VOLO – "A party of supernaturally spectacular proportions" is in the works to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1984 hit "Ghostbusters" at the Volo Auto Museum and McHenry Outdoor Theater Oct. 11, according to a news release.
The museum, at 27582 Volo Village Road, in Volo, is set to unveil its newly restored "Ghostbusters" Ecto-1 car, while Gurnee-based Ghostland Society paranormal investigators will talk about their work, tools they use, area hauntings and more, the release says.
Fans will be able to take photos with costumed characters, as well as the car.
Museum director Brian Grams said the car was built with a 1959 Cadillac ambulance and a Miller-Meteor body.
"They're rare vehicles," Grams said.
Museum admission that day includes a free entry to the outdoor theater, at Lincoln and Chapel Hills Roads, in McHenry, that same night. A double feature of "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II" will be shown, the release says.
Other daily museum activities include hayrides and children's mazes. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $13.95 for adults; $8.95 for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 5 are free.
