Venita Walters

DIXON – Venita M. Walters, 85, of Dixon, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, surrounded by loved ones.

Venita was born March 25, 1929, in Peoria, the daughter of George and Mary (Lewis) Phoenix. She married John A. Walters of Dixon on Oct. 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1991. Venita worked for BorgWarner from 1972 until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon.

Survivors include several nieces and a nephew.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Vennie Sue Thomas; two sons in infancy, John and Robert Walters; and one grandson, Randal Thomas.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m., today at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. A prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, with the Rev. Antoni Kretowicz officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
