ROCKFORD – Susan Ann Seidel, 86, of Rockford, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at River Bluff Nursing Home in Rockford.
She was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Knightstown, Indiana, the daughter of Edward and Clara Reisener. Susan graduated from Rock Falls High School. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University, where she studied piano. She was united in marriage to Frank Seidel on Feb. 23, 1957, in Sterling. Susan’s family was important to her. She enjoyed spending time with them at family gatherings, traveling to Wisconsin and Florida, and eating out at area restaurants. Susan formerly was employed at International Harvester. She was a former member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Rockford. She enjoyed watching the birds at River Bluff, and playing bingo with the other residents. Susan enjoyed spending time with her beloved dogs, Dolly, and the late Mindy Sue.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Tim) Fosberg of Rockford, Thomas Seidel of Roscoe, William (Sue) Seidel of Rockford, and James Seidel of Baraboo, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Stephen (fiancée Jaclyn Sweeney) Seidel of Chicago, Jennifer Seidel of Roscoe, and Spencer Seidel, Alyssa Seidel, and Brandon Harmon, all of Baraboo; sister-in-law, Betty (Robert) Naughton of Citrus Hills, Florida; and her niece, Rebecca Reitzel of Orlando, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Kenny Reitzel.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today and the funeral at 11 a.m. today at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services on South Alpine Road in Rockford, with Bob Taylor, pastor of Rockford First, officiating. Interment will be today at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
Susan’s family are grateful to the staff at River Bluff, and the team on the Eagle Wing for their loving care.
