GENEVA – A house in Geneva that celebrity Jenny McCarthy once rented has sold for $1.8 million.
The five-bedroom house at 316 S. Seventh St. sold on Wednesday for $1.8 million. The 6,700-square-foot house was put on the market in May for $2.3 million, but the price was lowered to about $2 million in July.
Sally Pelling, of Hinsdale-based Brush Hill Realtors, said the seller was happy with the selling price.
“I think the seller felt it was a fair price,” she said.
The real estate agent for the buyer could not be reached for comment.
McCarthy, who recently launched a radio show, had rented the home for a period of time. But McCarthy hasn’t lived there “for at least a year,” Pelling said.
The house is situated on 2.5 acres and features "amazing views of gardens, woods, creek and historic bridge," according to the real estate listing.
“It was wonderful for [McCarthy’s] son,” Pelling said. “There were a lot of amenities perfect for a young boy.”
McCarthy created a buzz in downtown St. Charles over Labor Day weekend when she married actor Donnie Wahlberg at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles. In August 2013, McCarthy held a "Dancing with the Stars" charity event at the Hotel Baker benefiting Bridges Montessori Academy of St. Charles.
