Joanne D. Boesen

STERLING – Joanne D. Boesen, 70, of Sterling, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Sterling Pavilion.

She was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Sterling, the daughter of Kenneth Edward and Helen Darlene (Cantlin) Boesen. She was employed for 18 years at Donaldson Co. in Dixon, before her retirement in 2005. Joanne married Jack Hippen in 1963. She married Lonny O’Bryan in 1969. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer (Ken) Roy of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, and Bridget (Daniel) Hernandez of Rockford; three sons, Jack (Amy) Hippen of Verona, Wisconsin, Jeff (Kris) Hippen of Sterling, and Patrick O’Bryan of Rock Falls; three sisters, Mary Cay (Gene) Zinanni of Sterling, Ann Eddinger of Rock Falls, and Teresa (Dennis) Davies of North Edwards, California; six brothers, Jim (Karen) Boesen of Sterling, Ken (Marian) Boesen of Cherry Valley, Bill (Bev) Boesen of Sterling, Jake (Monique) Boesen of Annandale, Virginia, Larry Boesen of Rock Falls, and Tom (Rhonda) Boesen of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Darlene, Haley, Jamison, Joana, Yalina, Hannah, Holly, Caroline, Jonathan, Justin, Jase, Aleetra, and Zandrea; and her great-grandchildren, Lorelei, Brayden, Jayden, Edgar, Audriyanna, and Yareli.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jacob and Darlene Cantlin; her paternal grandparents, Philip and Catherine Boesen; her parents, Kenneth and Helen Boesen; one sister, Marian Boesen-Barron; one grandson, Jath Hippen; and one brother-in-law, Robert Eddinger.

A gathering of friends and family begins at 9 a.m. and Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

Memorials have been established to Newman Central Catholic High School, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
