FAGAN: Help is on hand for eReaders at the La Grange Park library

Are you hoping to find a new eReader in your stocking this year? Do you have one that you’d like to use more? Did you know that La Grange Park library cardholders can download eBooks and audiobooks to their eReaders or phones at no cost?

We have good news for you! The library recently added thousands of eBooks to their collection through the eRead Illinois program, thanks to a grant awarded to RAILS (the Reaching Across Illinois Library System).

According to eRead Illinois, “The two-year grant program will increase access to eBooks for Illinois residents and grow eBook expertise among library staff, library system staff and Illinois residents.”

Readers can access this growing collection from home through the library's website at www.lplibrary.org. Just click on the eRead Illinois slide. Help for all compatible devices is available on the eRead Illinois site at http://shawurl.com/1mjz.

In addition to the eRead Illinois collection, library users still have access to digital titles through www.mediaondemand.org. This collection includes audio books for all ages that are great to listen to in the car during those holiday road trips over the river and through the woods. If you need assistance downloading titles to your device, stop by the library in person, or call at 708-352-0100.

We recently reconfigured the ground floor to make seating more open and comfortable. The old computer bank is gone and we have all new laptops that circulate within the building for public use. These improvements were made possible through a $50,000 grant facilitated by the office of State Representative La Shawn Ford. Look out for even more improvements at your library soon, including improved reference and reader’s advisory services.

Also, just a note that the Library will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1 for the holidays. Sign up for the library's weekly eNewsletter at www.lplibrary.org for updates on this and news on all library programs and events.
