BATAVIA - Kaneland Harter Middle School Principal Bryan Zwemke has been hired to be the next principal of Rotolo Middle School, effective July 1.
Batavia School Board members on Tuesday approved hiring Zwemke to replace Stephen Maciejewski, who will retire from his post after 24 years of service at Batavia Public School District 101.
"Bryan Zwemke is a strong match to what our stakeholders identified during the search
process, and we are pleased to welcome him to his new role at Rotolo Middle School," Batavia School Superintendent Lisa Hichens said in a press release.
Zwemke has worked in middle schools his entire career, starting as a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher, department chair, and basketball coach in the West Aurora School
District, and continuing on to dean of students, athletic director, assistant principal at Yorkville
Middle School, and principal at Harter Middle School in Kaneland School District 302.
"As a middle level educator for the past 15 years, I have developed a strong understanding
and compassion for middle school students, and am thoroughly excited to begin working with
the students, parents, and staff at Rotolo Middle School," Zwemke said in the release. "I believe in the success of all students and engaging in collaborative work with the entire school community
to achieve this."
Zwemke holds a master's of art in educational leadership from Aurora University and a
bachelor's in history from Western Illinois University. Zwemke is currently a member of the
board of directors on the Illinois Elementary School Association.
