Raymond E. Nance

PROPHETSTOWN – Raymond E. Nance, 83, of Prophetstown, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Morrison Community Hospital. He was a crane mechanic for 32 years at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling.

Raymond was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Makanda, the son of Moody and Geneva (Hagler) Nance. He married Charlene Anne Andres on Feb. 9, 1952, in Piggott, Arkansas. Raymond served in the Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharlene (Van) Johnson of Prophetstown, and Victoria Poulos of Lyndon; four sons, Randel Nance, Steven Nance of Dubuque, Iowa, Thomas Nance of Island Lake, and Mark Nance of Prophetstown; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Mayer of Makanda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Klump; and one brother, Clyde Nance.

There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family interment will be at Lyndon Township Cemetery in Lyndon. Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Propehtstown is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established.
