PRINCETON — James F. Webb, 43, of Chicago was sentenced Tuesday, Feb. 3 by Associate Circuit Judge C.J. Hollerich to serve three and one-half years in the Department of Corrections and to pay court costs of $732 and $252.70 in restitution within a year of his release after pleading guilty to the Class 3 felony of forgery.
On Dec. 1, 2014, a Princeton business reported to the Princeton Police Department that three individuals were attempting to use checks for a purchase under suspicious circumstances.
The Princeton Police Department determined Webb possessed checks from three different businesses. The businesses were drawn on different accounts and each with different banks.
Also, the names on the checks did not belong to any of the three individuals, including Webb. All three individuals were placed under arrest for forgery.
Cases against Devon Ferguson, 33, of Chicago and Monique Rose, 37, of Hammond, Ind., are pending with a jury trial set for Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Webb has previous convictions for forgery in Cook County in both 1993 and 1997 and also for forgery in McLean County in 1994.
He has also been convicted of fraudulent identification in Cook County in 2001 and for unlawful use of credit card again in Cook County in 1996.
