MENDOTA – Jill Abbott Kessel, 55, of Mendota, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at her home.

She was born March 31, 1959, in Mendota, to Donald and Bette (Bromenschenkel) Abbott. Jill was a 1977 graduate of Mendota High School. She was the manager of Sterling Optical in Peru Mall. She attended First United Methodist Church in Mendota.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Harris of Utica; two sons, Bradley Harris of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and Jonathan Tielebein of Mendota; four grandchildren; her mother, Bette Abbott of Mendota; and two sisters, Robin (Brooks) Laning of Seattle, and Jessica (John) Erickson of Clarion, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father in 2010.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota. A private family memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
