BURR RIDGE – Pleasantdale School District 107 named Dave Palzet, a former administrator at Wilmette School District 39, to be their new superintendent effective July 1.

Palzet was named to the position with a unanimous vote for approval by the District 107 Board of Education at their meeting Feb. 18. Palzet fills the position left open by Mark Fredisdorf, who served as the district's superintendent since 2002.

Palzet was offered a three-year contract with a base salary of $175,000.

According to a news release from the district, Palzet has served as an administrator in Illinois schools since 2001. For the last three years, Palzet served as an administrator for Educational Services in Wilmette School District 39, which includes six schools and approximately 3,500 students.

Formerly, Palzet also served as principal with Wilmette Junior High and Deer Path Middle School in Lake Forest School District 67. He has also served as assistant principal at Deer Path Middle School and as dean of students at Cooper Middle School in Wheeling School District 21.

Palzet began his career in education as a fifth and sixth grade teacher in District 21 teaching reading, language arts, science and math.

Palzet received his doctorate in educational leadership from Loyola University Chicago. He also holds a masters in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. He received his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University.

Palzet's selection comes after a national search conducted by the District 107 Board, which included a survey, interviews and focus groups. The district received applications from 47 candidates, which lead to interviews with six candidates by the Board.

“District 107 is a family oriented school community with high standards. There are wonderful things happening for children and I am excited to contribute to their history of offering high quality education to all students,” Palzet said in the release.
