The McHenry boys water polo team opened its season Friday with an upset victory over St. Ignatius, 16-7, at the Palatine Tournament.
The Warriors, ranked 41st by illpolo.com, outscored fourth-ranked St. Ignatius, 8-1, in the second half.
Garrett Floden led McHenry with five goals and 12 steals. Teddy Pitzen had three goals, and Alex Becker added two goals and five steals. Brody Stafford made 11 saves for the Warriors.
McHenry will play Mundelein on Saturday in the tournament.
