Grundy County names Brantley Harvey the Ag Baby of 2015

MORRIS – Brantley Harvey was born Wednesday to Thomas Harvey and Christina Rowland, which made him the Grundy County 2015 Ag Baby in honor of National Agriculture Day.

The Grundy County Farm Bureau Young Leader Committee decided in 2009 to celebrate the first baby born on National Agriculture Day by presenting the new parents with a gift basket filled with baby items that could be traced back to a family farm.
The project's goal is to show how each item provided in the gift basket is made from agriculture commodities grown in Grundy County, as well as other parts of the nation.

Basket items include diaper rash cream and baby powder made from corn starch; Advil, which has corn syrup in it; wipes that have lanolin, which comes from sheep's wool; and diapers, which have corn starch in them.

National Ag Week is celebrated this year March 15 to 21 across the United States as a time to reflect on how agricultural roots and traditions have affected Americans lives.
