Cardiologist joins specialist team

MORRIS – With the recent addition of Dr. Athar Saeed, Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists has expanded its outreach into the community with office locations in Morris, Channahon, Dwight and Ottawa.

Saeed joined Dr. Syed Ahmed and Dr. Tarek Alahdab in early December after completing an interventional cardiology fellowship with Seton Hall University – Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.

A native of Naperville, Saeed attended medical school at National University of Science and Technology in Pakistan and completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, according to a news release.

As a cardiologist, Saeed has expertise in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, blood pressure management, heart failure, circulation problems of the lower extremity, and cholesterol management.

His specialized training as an interventional cardiologist makes him qualified to perform advanced testing and procedures in the Morris Hospital cath lab, including angiography, and angioplasty and stenting of the coronary and vascular arteries.

“Being ill can be a very distressing time for people,” Saeed said in the release. “It’s very rewarding to be able to help someone through that. As a cardiologist, I get to go to bed every night knowing that I helped someone.”

Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists has office locations in Morris at 151 W. High St. across from Morris Hospital; in Dwight at the Dwight Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, 101 S. Prairie Ave.; in Ottawa at 827 E. Norris Drive; and in Channahon at the Morris Hospital Ridge Road Campus, 27240 W. Saxony Drive.
