St. Charles unveils branding logo

Over 100 attend launch party at Arcada Theatre

ST. CHARLES – St. Charles residents Tuesday afternoon had their first look at the logo for the city's latest branding effort.

The multicolored logo was revealed in front of more than 100 people during a branding launch and logo release party at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles.

The logo includes silhouettes of city landmarks, such as the St. Charles Municipal Building tower, the Arcada Theatre marquee and the Main Street Bridge.

“I think it’s great – very colorful, very modern and family-friendly,” said Shannon Stone, a business education teacher at St. Charles East High School who attended the party.

The logo is part of a larger branding initiative between the city of St. Charles and the Downtown St. Charles Partnership. It also includes the "St. Charles – Discover Your City Side" tagline that was revealed Monday.

A branding committee of about 10 members worked with St. Charles-based Vision Force Marketing to come up with the logo, said Lynne Schwartz, the partnership’s executive director.

The city wants to move past being simply labeled as a “bar town” and let new residents and visitors in St. Charles know about the variety of businesses and attractions in the area, said Tony Scheufler, owner of the Bend General Store, 320 W. Main St., St. Charles.

Organizers said the logo will be part of an extended marketing campaign that can be incorporated into existing events held in the city.

“This is definitely just the beginning,” said Ron Onesti, president and founder of Onesti Entertainment Corp., which took over management of the Arcada Theatre in 2005.
