PRINCETON — Betty J. Lawson, 84, of Princeton died at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at her home in Princeton.
Born Dec. 7, 1930, in Chicago to William and Monica (Himmelman) Leisten, she married Warren Fredrick Lawson Feb. 11, 1950, in Chicago. He died June 19, 2001.
She was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago. She had been a homemaker, an office assistant and a cashier for Ronsam's in Chicago.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Princeton and Church Women United, was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and was active in the Altar Guide and Ladies Quilting Group.
Surviving are two sons, Douglas Lawson of Round Lake and Glenn (Michelle) Lawson of Princeton; one daughter, Kristine (James) Heykoop of Elgin; five grandchildren, Adam and Erick Heykoop of Elgin, and Matthew, Nathan and Rachel Lawson of Princeton; one sister, Eileen (Arthur) Roth of Arlington Heights; and two nieces and two nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, George Leisten.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Scott Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, in Acacia Park Cemetery in Norridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Friday at the church.
