ROCK FALLS – Marjorie E. Potts, 74, of Rock Falls, died Thursday morning, May 14, 2015, at Avonlea Cottages in Dixon.
She was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Sterling, a daughter of Robert and Theresa (Zahn) Hermes. She was united in marriage to Leo Aberle in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1968. She married Jerry Potts on May 6, 1972, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.
Marjorie was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed working bingo at St. Andrew Church and Newman Central Catholic High School. Marjorie was a Red Hatter, an avid bowler, and loved to dance the polka. She loved her garden and flowers and traveling in her motor home with Jerry. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved her family very much.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jerry of Rock Falls; three daughters, Wanda (Ed) Aberle-Schmitt of Rock Falls, Kathy (Don) Aberle-Heiar of Clinton, Iowa, and Lora (Ken) Aberle-Hernandez of Tucson, Arizona; a son, Aaron Potts of Rock Falls; a sister, Marie Fritz of Plains, Montana; three brothers, Maynard (Mary) Hermes and Harry (Mary) Hermes, both of Sterling, and Calvin Hermes of Rock Falls; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., with the rosary recited at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, with Monsignor Gerald Kobbeman, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sterling.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
