CAMBRIDGE – Donald R. “Big Ed” “Blue” Matheny, 62, of Prophetstown, formerly of Cambridge, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at his home.
Donald Richard Matheny was born Oct. 22, 1952, in Kewanee, the son of Richard and Twyla (Vincent) Matheny. He was educated in Cambridge schools and was a 1970 graduate of Cambridge High School. Don worked at the Admiral Plant in Galesburg when he got out of high school. He then moved to Arkansas for a few years, before moving back to this area. Don worked as a truck driver for area trucking firms. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed canoeing and collecting rocks and arrowheads.
Those surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doreen and Rick Allen of Geneseo and Debra and Keith Bloomer of Davenport, Iowa; a brother, David Matheny of Cambridge; eight nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Sue Matheny.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 2 to 10 p.m. June 21 at the Timber Campground, east of Cambridge. Cremation rites have been accorded.
