Robyn Ingemunson of Yorkville last week announced her intention to run for the office of Kendall County Circuit Clerk as a Republican candidate in the March 16, 2016, party primary election.
Speaking to a small crowd of supporters on the steps of the Kendall County Courthouse, Ingemunson, a supervisor in the circuit clerk’s office, said she is beginning her campaign for the nomination.
On hand for the announcement was former Kendall County State’s Attorney and former Kendall County GOP Central Committee Chairman Dallas Ingemunson.
He said he was showing his support for his former daughter-in-law, who is the former wife of his son Gregg.
Robyn Ingemunson is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She said that she handles child support services cases as well as divorce orders of protection.
Speaking briefly Ingemunson said that she hoped to first be appointed by the Kendall County Board to fill out the term when current Circuit Clerk Becky Morganegg resigns on June 30 but later noted there were three other people who applied for the job.
She said that she worked in the Kane County Circuit Clerk’s office for 10 years and eight of those years were in a managerial position. After working in the Kane County Circuit Clerk office for 10 years, she left to stay home and raise her children in Yorkville. In 2011, she went to work in the Kendall County Circuit Clerk’s office.
“Instead of going back to Kane, which I could have, I decided ... my home is here now in Kendall County and I decided let’s see if Becky will hire me,” she said. “So I had my father-in-law (Dallas Ingemunson) put a good word in for me and Becky was gracious enough to take me in and give me the opportunity to work here in Kendall County.”
The announcement comes just about a week after Morganegg released a statement saying she would be resigning effective June 30.
Morganegg, a Republican from Yorkville, has been Circuit Clerk since 2004. She last won election to a four-year term in 2012 defeating a Democratic challenger. Morganegg didn’t appear until after the announcement and while exiting the courthouse said she didn’t wish to speak to the media.
“This is Robyn’s day,” she said.
Ingemunson said she would like to be appointed as interim clerk because it would make things a “little smoother for running” but intended to run regardless.
“(Morganegg) has taught me a lot, she has kind of taken me under her wing,” she said, adding that she has worked with Morganegg on bringing technology updates to the office.
She added that she has been involved in bringing e-filing to the office, which she said should begin in a month or two. Ingemunson also said she wanted to introduce “e-citations” and has talked to Sheriff Dwight Baird about it.
“And our website really needs to be updated ... and that is another project that I am going to start,” she said.
Ingemunson is the first to announce a run for the circuit clerk’s office. The filing period for candidates to run in the primary election begins in the fall.
