Ynes L. Vasquez

ROCK FALLS – Ynes L. Vasquez, 88, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, June 5, 2015, at his home. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 41 years before his retirement in 1989 as operator in the nail department.

Ynes was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Hondo, Texas, the son of Luis and Santos (Leyvas) Vasquez. He married Lupe Chapa on March 8, 1948, in Pleasanton, Texas. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda (Arthur) Lomas of Aurora, and Margie (Gilbert Jr.) Canales of Rock Falls; three sons, Ynes (Barb) Vasquez Jr. of Poteet, Texas, Ruben (Susan) Vasquez of Sterling, and Charlie (Katherine) Vasquez of Rock Falls; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, five brothers, and one grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with the rosary recited at 4:45 p.m., Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Richard Kramer officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
