Lloyd Larson

PUTNAM — Lloyd A.N. Larson, 86, of Putnam passed away Friday, July 17, 2015, in Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

He was born July 20, 1928, in Florid to Karl and Olga (Olson) Larson. He married Peggy Yontz on June 22, 1958, in Kentucky.

He retired from the U.S Army after 20 years. He served his country in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was inducted in the Army in 1951 and retired in 1971 with the rank of major. He was also a farmer his entire life.

Surviving are three sons, Karl Eric (Margaret Williams) Larson of Elgin, John Arthur (Nicole) Larson of Willmette and Nels Olaf (Diana) Larson of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Ramona Noll of Arlington and Jean Strack of Arlington Heights.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, in 2003; and two sisters.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, in the Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville, with Pastor Tom Schrock officiating. Burial will be in the Hennepin Cemetery with full military honors by the Granville American Legion, VFW and U.S. Army. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
