Village officer promoted to top spot

WALNUT— A new police chief was sworn in at Monday's Village Board meeting.

Glenn Lawson, 50, of Princeton, has been a part-time Walnut officer exactly 1 year. The chief's position is full time.

Most recently, he was with the Buda Police Department and worked for Advantage Logistics. Before that, he was a police officer and investigator for the suburban Northfield Police Department, in his hometown.

He has lived in the area since 2001, working for several local businesses and managing his own business, the now-closed Main Line Hobbies in Princeton, for several years.

Lawson has a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix and has completed numerous additional training courses at Northwestern University, the state of Illinois and the Police Training Institute of the University of Illinois.
