STERLING – Jodi R. Sunday, 46, of Sterling died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at her home.
Jodi was born on Jan. 9, 1969, in Sterling. She was a 1987 graduate of Rock Falls High School and attended Sauk Valley Community College.
She married Matthew J. Sunday on Nov. 15, 1991, in Sterling. Jodi was employed as a legal assistant at the law firm of Pignatelli and Associates in Rock Falls at the time of her death. Before that, she had worked at Newman Central Catholic High School as director of fundraising.
Jodi enjoyed singing and had served as a canter at St. Mary Church in Sterling; she sang at many weddings and funerals and also sang with the Jo Jo Brown Band.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an active and supportive member of the “Newman” family.
Survivors include her husband, Matt; her son, Monte; her parents, Sierra “Sue” and LaVerne “Butch” Battles of Sterling; her sister, Brandee (Kent) Porterfield of Healdton, Oklahoma; her niece, Kelsey; her nephew, Chad; her brothers, Douglas Rombout of Sterling, Dennis Rombout of Dixon, Monte (Melanie) Battles of Rock Falls; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents, Ernest and Mildred Attebury; and two aunts, Beverley Gorman and Diane Vinson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Bruce Ludeke and the Rev. David Finn co-celebrating.
