ROCK FALLS – Donald Lee Rogers, 69, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Don was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Belvidere, the son of Noah A. and Mildred L. (Green) Rogers. He attended Pearl City High School. On June 12, 1976, he married Patricia Ann Link and together they had two children, Joshua and Aaron. Don worked for Chicago Northwestern and Union Pacific railroads, retiring in 2002, after 35 years of service. Don had a strong faith in God and was a devoted member of New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Rock Falls. He was the song leader and Sunday school teacher for many years. A unique soul, Don loved storytelling and had an endless sense of humor. He enjoyed singing, watching sports, and was an avid student of history. Don will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Rock Falls; two sons, Joshua (Kate) Rogers of Montgomery and Aaron (Tara) Rogers of Sterling; five grandchildren, Andria, Jack, Alex, Jenna, and Nick; two sisters, Rita (Daniel) Randecker of Mendota and Connie (Fred) Eberly of Freeport; one brother, Ronald (Sandy) Rogers of Kent; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Monty, Larry, and Avon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. The funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with Carl Reese, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
