Tiny Mite Division
Oswego Bears 18, Algonquin Argonauts 0: The Oswego Bears Tiny Mite improved their regular season record to 7-1 on Saturday. The Bears fought hard against the Argo's behind Christian Herrera, Giovanni Garcia, Ryan Gedman, Cameron Logan, Luke Hernandez and Austin Martin setting up Dominic Battista for the Bears first touchdown. Matthew Odefey, Vince Herrera, Aidan Cullen had huge tackles for a loss on defense giving the bears back the ball. Nolan Robertson had a huge run setting up Zachary Gilson for his first career touchdown. The Oswego Bears Tiny Mites will travel to Plainfield this Saturday at noon to Battle the Naperville Chargers who are 6-1-1 in the Tiny Mite Championship Bowl for the final game of the season.
Mitey Mite Division
Plainfield Saints 8, Oswego Bears (Slou) 6: The Oswego Bears Mitey Mite 1 team ended their season with a tough loss to Hampshire last weekend. The Bears got on the board early when Trey Hernandez bulldozed his way up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown. Thanks to a stellar defense lead by Brenden Bisgrove, Logan Keaton, and Charles Canada, the Bears were able to cling to a 6-0 lead at halftime. In the second half the Bears were able to pound the ball inside with hard runs from Jackson Miranda, Damien Lewandowski, and Trey Hernandez but they were never able to reach the end zone. Oswego ended up 3-4-1 on the season, they look to improve next year when they will be able to return the majority of their young team to the Mitey Mite division.
Fox Valley Gators 25, Oswego Bears (Heiden) 12: The Mitey Mite Bears 2 team played their best game of the season offensively and defensively. Thomas Anderson stepped up on offense and moved the ball all the way to the end zone for his first of two touchdowns on the day. Quarterback Ty Dwyer lit up the field with pass plays to Caleb Yanos. Great blocking by Ethan Baca, Glenn Lloyd, Jackson Hall, Drew Mulacek and Tyler Vlcek allowed Ethan Brauer and Ty Dwyer to rack up the yards. Defensively we had great tackles from Aiden Heiden, Vlcek, and Brauer. The team missed their outside linebacker Matt Gandy due to injury.
Senior Mitey Mites Division
Oswego Bears (Smith) 30, Southtowne Stallions 7: Christian Martyn ran for two touchdowns and Nick Tickle had a 30 yard run around the end with David Drendel and Maddox Gerwig sealing the outside for a clear running lane. Colin Ryan capped off the scoring on a 12 yard scamper to the left corner. Outstanding defense on the line by Clarke, Drendel, Smith, Aiden Moriarty, Isaiah Logan, Parth Patel, and Andrew Wiggins, as the front six were in the Stallion backfield all day. The Senior Bears Mitey Mite Team finished the regular season 5-3 and are headed to the playoffs as one of the top eight teams in the Chicagoland Pop Warner League, Mitey Mite Division.
Pee Wee Division
Oswego Bears 20, Hoffman Estates RedHawks 19: The Oswego Pee Wee Bears finished the regular season with a 7-1 record. The offense was led by Cooper Gorman with touchdown runs of 47, 45, and 30 yards respectively. The Bears defense was led by Brandon Heffernan with a caused fumble and 11.5 tackles with four for loss. Braison Goehring and Hector Perez came up with a fumble recoveries to prevent additional Red Hawk scoring chances. Carter Wojcik and Casey Krahula had some big tackles to slow the Red Hawk offense down.
Jr Midget Division
Oswego Bears 32, Hampshire 6: The Jr. Midget Oswego Bears team ended the regular season on a high note. The defense dominated all game. Efrain Davila, Bennett Wojcik, Cole Hansen, Luke Matyszka and Michael Walsh held the Hampshire team off. Tim Baker had a great interception. Offensively, it was one of the best games of the season. Ricky Jacobsen scored an impressive three rushing touchdowns. Keegan Cullison threw for two touchdown passes to Bennet Wojcik and Jack Ford. Efrain Davila ran a kickoff back 40 yards to set up a touchdown right before halftime. Luke Matyszka ran a punt back 25 yards, setting up another scoring drive.
Varsity Division
Oswego Bears 32, Hoffman Estates RedHawks 0: The Oswego Bears ended their regular season with a another offensive and defensive stellar performance. The Bears were led by the power running of Noah Zukauskas, Zack Precup, Sam Wilson, Domenico Gallo, David Wilson and Corey Provow. David Wilson completed two passes to tight end Brendan Harkins. Provow rushed for two touchdowns in the first half and threw for another in the fourth quarter. The offensive line was anchored by Christopher Matias, Alex Becker, Otto Hess, Alex Ponx, Precup, Zukauskas and Harkins. The team enters the playoffs in second place and ends the regular season with a 6-2 record.
Cheerleading: The Oswego Bears PeeWee squad took second place at the Chicagoland Pop Warner Conference Competition last weekend. They will compete at Chicagoland's Regional Competition at Northern Illinois University on Nov. 8. Members of the squad are: Aryianna Alvarez, Riley Cherniwchan, Hannah DeSpain, Lilyana Hallam, Sarah Heizer, Haidyn Kapusinski, Isabela Magan, Faith Matyszka, Giselle Moreno, Olivia Muir, Aryanna Olguin, Josclyn Paul, Laila Pugh, Mallory Schulz, Taylor Scott, Alexis Valle and Sara Walsh.
Tiny and Mitey Mite Cheerleaders also had a great showcase in last weekend's Conference Competition. The Oswego Bears Mitey Mite Squad is Disney-bound in December as they head down to ESPN's Wide World of Sports to showcase their skills at the Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships.
