Fox Valley Philharmonic presents a ‘Not Just for Kids’ classical children’s concert with audience participation

The Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maryann Flock, will present a special “Children’s Concert” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21. The free concert will feature a collection of light classical music with plenty of audience interaction.

Children will have the opportunity to participate in the percussion feature of the “Toy Symphony” attributed to Leopold Mozart. Children may also be in the spotlight as a “maestro” when kids take turns conducting the Phil live – in concert.

During the intermission, there will be an “Instrument Petting Zoo” where children can try playing various orchestral instruments. This concert is programmed for young ones, but guarantees a concert full of enjoyment for the “young-at-heart” as well.

Admission to the concert is free, but donations are accepted.

The Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance’s fifth annual Children’s Concert will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church located at 420 West Downer Place in Aurora. Parking is available in the lot behind the church, accessible from Garfield Avenue.

This concert is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
