Advanced art students at Liberty & Martino Junior High Schools in New Lenox visit the Art Institute of Chicago

Angela McKimson, art teacher at Liberty Junior High School in New Lenox, was impressed watching her students get out pencils and sketch famous works of art right there in the museum!

NEW LENOX – On Nov. 19, the Advanced Art classes from Liberty and Martino Junior High Schools visited the Art Institute of Chicago.

Students went on a tour of the Modern and Contemporary Wing, looking closely at paintings such as Picasso’s “Blue Guitarist” and Peter Blume’s “The Rock”. They learned how to read art both visually and conceptually, discussing the historical influences that often accompany the artist’s vision.

After the tour, students spent the afternoon exploring the museum on their own.
