DIXON – A local bar and grill suffered "major structural damage" last night after a car struck the corner of the building, the Lee County Sheriff's Department said in a news release this morning.
Cory Bradley, 26, of Dixon, was southbound about 10 p.m. on state Route 2 when he lost control and crashed into Porky's Tavern, 1315 E. River St. Bradley and his passenger, Justin Malston, 23, of Mount Morris, were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
Bradley was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
A photo circulating on social media Friday morning showed a dark-colored coupe with its nose buried in the corner of the building, and brick and mortar scattered across the vehicle's hood and the nearby roadway.
Calls to the business went unanswered this morning.
