FOX LAKE – A Chicago woman was charged with prostitution at a Fox Lake spa after she offered to perform a sexual act on an undercover detective in exchange for money, police said.

LiYun Liu, 48, of the 200 block of 24th Street, was charged Tuesday with one count of prostitution, a Class A misdemeanor, according to a news release from the Lake County Gang Task Force. Lake County Jail officials said she was released Wednesday on a $10,000 recognizance bond.

She is next due in court at 9 a.m. Jan. 21.

Police said the arrest followed an investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department and Lake County Gang Task Force into reported prostitution at Lake Spa, 31 Town Center Lane, Fox Lake.

Liu's arrest was the second arrest at Lake Spa, police said. On June 29, Yan Jiang, 50, of the 15400 block of Route 59, Plainfield, was charged by the Fox Lake Police Department with operating an illegal massage parlor, according to the release.

Lake County court records show Jiang was issued a fine and given six months of supervision.

Fox Lake village officials have started the process to revoke Lake Spa's business license, police said.
