ALGONQUIN – A four-vehicle rear-end crash in Algonquin sent one woman to the hospital Friday night, officials said.
Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Bill Hough said they were dispatched to Algonquin Road near Sandbloom Road at about 5:15 p.m.
Algonquin Police Department Sgt. Paul Riese said 54-year-old Sandra Sidlo of Huntley struck a car while it was stopped in eastbound traffic on Algonquin Road. That crash caused a chain reaction in which two other cars stopped in traffic were hit, Riese said.
Riese said Sidlo was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with minor injuries.
Eastbound Algonquin Road was shut down for about 50 minutes, Riese said.
He said three vehicles involved were towed and had significant damage.
There were no passengers in the vehicle of the woman who was transported, Hough said. There were multiple people in the other vehicles involved, Hough said, but none of them were injured.
Riese did not have any more information on the passengers in the other vehicles. He said the department responded to several other minor crashes caused by icy roads Friday night.
