Sherry L. Zerbe

BYRON – Sherry L. Zerbe, 51, of Byron, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 12, 1964, in Mendota, the daughter of Lee and Carole (Vincent) Wendel.

Sherry worked as a personal banker for Fifth Third Bank and US Bank in Dixon for many years.

She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, decorating, photography, and doing crafts with her grandchildren.

Sherry married Lane Zerbe on July 4, 2008, at White Forest Pines State Park in Mount Morris.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Jenni Hermeyer of Amboy, Josh Christoffersen of Chicago, and Tara (Adrian) Medina of Miami; five grandchildren, Caden and Jayce, and Alexis, Liliana, and Quentin; her mother, Carole Benson of Amboy; her father, Lee (Carol) Wendel of Mendota; two sisters, Susan (Hugh) McCoy of Quincy and Connie (Jon) Yambert of Aurora; and two brothers, Jonathan (Sarah) Benson of Arrington, Tennessee, and Terry (Roberta) Wendel of Mendota.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Christoffersen.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a scripture service at 1:30 p.m., at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Visitation also will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, with the Rev. Timothy Draper, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy.

A memorial has been established to the Northwestern University Medical Faculty Foundation.
