Katelyn Everett and Jay Borum each scored in double figures for Sterling, but it wasn’t enough as the Golden Warriors lost 57-49 to Pekin in a loss at the Dixon tournament.
Trailing 22-13 at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors cut the deficit to 29-25 at halftime but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Sterling (7-8) was led by Everett’s 18 points, and Borum added 13.
Pekin’s Sydney Diekhoff scored 34 points, making 11 shots and going 10 of 12 from the free-throw line.
Dixon 39, Rochelle 31: Bre Scheidegger scored 13 points, and Britney Pitzer added nine as the Duchesses (7-6) pulled away late from the Hubs at Dixon.
Abby Lundquist led Rochelle with 14 points.
United Township 58, Newman 47: The Comets were relegated to the consolation bracket at Dixon after a loss to the Panthers.
Kelsey Simpson topped Newman (5-7) with 13 points, and Maddie Craft added 11.
Maddie Tague had 16 points to pace UT, and Taylor May added 10.
Hall 40, Oregon 32: The Red Devils slowly pulled away from the Hawks throughout the first consolation game at Dixon.
Ally Bartling and Anni Wilson both scored nine points to pace Oregon (5-9). Hunter Galassi had 18 for Hall (7-3).
Eastland 55, Aquin 44: Bubby Doubler paced a balanced attack with 15 points as the Cougars topped the Bulldogs at Dixon.
Also for Eastland, RaeAnna Stover had 13 points, and Makenzie Fink added 11.
Maggie Bald led Aquin with 15 points.

Alleman 61, Rock Falls 51: The Rockets trailed by one going into the fourth quarter, but the Pioneers pulled away with a 24-15 scoring edge over the final 8 minutes in the consolation third-place game in Normal.
Abbee Sigel’s 15 points paced Rock Falls (7-8), and Sydnie Nailor hit three 3-pointers and added 11 points.
Maris Boelens hit 15 of 16 free throws and led Alleman with 18 points. Kennedy Prince hit two 3s and chipped in 17 points.
Peoria Christian 64, Rock Falls 59: The Rockets were outscored 43-33 in the second half in a
consolation semifinal at Normal West High School.
Abbee Sigel hit four 3-pointers and made 11 of 12 free throws to score a team-high 25 points for Rock Falls, which went 15-for-19 from the foul line. Sydnie Nailor hit four 3s and added 14 points.
Tia Johnson’s 18 points paced Peoria Christian, which shot 28-for-42 from the free-throw line.
Erie tournament
Fulton 45, Morrison 29: The Steamers took control early with a 10-0 first-quarter run and never let the rival Fillies back in it at Erie.
Averi Leitzen scored 11 points, Faith Kennedy hit two 3-pointers and finished with nine points, and Jordan Price chipped in eight for Fulton (6-4).
Emma Sitzmore led Morrison (6-7) with nine points, and Peyton Tegeler added eight, including a pair of 3s.
Mercer County 43, Bureau Valley 29: The Storm trailed by 20 points at halftime to the Golden Eagles to close out tournament play in Erie.
Darcy Kepner led the Storm (9-6) with 11 points, and Christian Hurley had eight points.
Kenzie Baker led Mercer County with 22 points.
Erie 34, Stockton 31: Rachel Cobert tossed in 19 points, and Emily Cox added 13 as the Cardinals (8-3) edged the Blackhawks at Erie.
