CARY – A strip mall in Cary may now have the answer for those looking for convenient shopping options or wanting a quiet night at home with a movie, pizza or other comfort food.
By design, Ohio-based pizza chain Marco's Pizza recently opened a location next door to video rental chain Family Video at 3106 Three Oaks Road in Cary. Since 2012, more than 100 Marco's Pizza locations have opened next to Family Video stores as part of a concept that offers customers one-stop shopping for dinner and entertainment, according to Family Video.
At these locations, customers can pick up a movie and pizza without having to restart the car, or they can order a movie for delivery along with their pizza through marcos.com.
A delivery driver will bring both items directly to a home. Drivers also can return past movies from Family Video for customers who simply want to order the food, said RJ Vazquez, manager of the Marco's Pizza location in Cary.
"Customers enjoy our product and enjoy coming here, especially with our ties to our neighboring business Family Video," Vazquez said. "We can deliver movies, and we can deliver pizza. We will do both."
Vazquez and staff formally introduced the one-stop shopping concept in Cary during a ribbon-cutting event Monday with the Cary-Grove Chamber of Commerce.
Marco's Pizza in Cary provides carryout and delivery services, offering an array of pizzas with dough made fresh every day along with chicken wings, sub sandwiches, meatballs, salads and other items.
Amid tough times for video rental stores, Glenview-based Family Video launched the partnership a few years ago with Marco's Pizza to add convenience for families and help drive additional traffic to the company's brick-and-mortar stores, according to Family Video.
"This exciting partnership has transformed Family Video into a one-stop shop for dinner and entertainment while maximizing the potential of our locations," Family Video President Keith Hoogland said in a statement.
