David E. Reinke

ROCHELLE – David E. Reinke, 72, of Rochelle, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, in his home.

David was born in Rochelle on Oct. 30, 1943, the son of John L. and Goldie (Eppler) Reinke.

Dave was an Army Reserve Veteran, a member of Pheasants Unlimited, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the Kishwaukee RC Flyers. He was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point, served on the church council, sang in the choir, and was the sausage fryer for the annual pancake suppers. He also was the general handyman at the church, performing carpentry, plumbing and electrical duties whenever needed.

Dave’s hobbies included fishing, flying, trains, photography, woodworking, winemaking, and hosting many fish fries.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; mother, Goldie Reinke of Rochelle; step-children, Brian (Christina) Jordan, Debbie (Bruce) Daub, Diana (Dan) Marks, Jim (Jody) Arwood, and Joe Arwood; sisters, Lois Olson of Prosser, Washington, and Ruth (Vic) Wiley of Bloomington; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Reinke.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point, with Pastor Andrew Kayes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
