Today, adjusting your hearing aid can be as simple as adjusting your watch.
The Apple Watch is compatible with hearing aid apps that allow the wearer to control his or her hearing aid settings with as much ease as setting the time.
The Apple Watch eliminates the need for any cumbersome accessories or remotes, according to Everyday Hearing. There is a need, however for the Apple Watch app. Currently, two manufacturers make hearing aids that are compatible with the Apple Watch, which are the made- for iPhone hearing aids by ReSound and Starkey.
The ReSound Apple Watch hearing aid app is called the Smart App and is a free download from iTunes. It also works with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
With it, the wearer can adjust volume, balance sound bass and treble, choose programs, set personalized settings for individual listening environments, find misplaced hearing aid, stream phone and audio, and make adjustments for comfort in difficult environments such as wind or noise, says Everyday Hearing.
The Starkey Apple Watch hearing aid app, called TruLink, is also a free download from iTunes and works with all the same Apple products as ReSound’s Smart App. It can be used to stream phone calls, music, and other media directly to your hearing aids, adjust sound settings in different environments, change programs, set personalized programs based off “geotagging”, adjust volume, and find misplaced hearing aids, according to Everyday Hearing.
Both the ReSound and Starkey Apple Watch-compatible hearing aids come in several different models to suit individual needs, making it easier than ever to improve the quality of life for hearing-impaired individuals.
