Morris HS Mathletes finish first in math contest

MORRIS – The Morris Mathletes finished in first place at the ICTM Regional Math Contest, which was hosted at Morris Community High School on Feb. 27.

The Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Freshman/Sophomore 8-Person, and Calculator Teams all won first place.

The Algebra I, Junior/Senior 8-Person, and Oral Competition teams all finished in second place.

In addition, Morris had eight students earn individual awards, including John Wolfer and Jessica Jurak in first place and Peter Smyk and Meghan Jurak in second place. Nolan Robbins, Anna Thomas, Kailey Pierce, and Conner Shaw received third place.

The entire team of 29 students now advances to the ICTM State Finals on May 7 at the University of Illinois.
