Joliet Slammers release 2016 promotional schedule

JOLIET – Game tickets go on sale Monday for the Joliet Slammers, and the team is ramping up for its home opener May 17 at Silver Cross Field.

The Slammers also have lots of promotions planned for the season.

Returning fan favorites include Princess Nights on June 3 and June 12. Anna, Elsa and other princesses will be available for autographs and pictures on the concourse, and there will be a princess-themed fireworks display postgame.

Bark in the Park Days will return June 5 and July 17. The first 500 fans will receive a doggie treat bag provided by Tucker’s Doggie Delights. Tucker’s also will host a “Best in Show” social media contest leading up to the games for fans wanting to flaunt their four-legged friends. Winners will be chosen each night and receive prize packs from Tucker’s.

The second annual College Fair will be held Aug. 24, with more than 20 colleges in attendance. Area high school students receive a discounted ticket price.

On Independence Day weekend – July 1 to 3 – the Slammers will have two fireworks shows. On Military Appreciation Day, July 3, the team also will recognize area veterans and those currently serving with a U.S. Army live swear-in ceremony.

New promotions for 2016 include a Salute to Joliet night May 24, highlighting all things Joliet, as well as a Salute to Summer on June 17 with a pregame pig roast by Double D’s Pig Roasts.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Night will take place June 25. Firehouse Subs will bring awareness to its Public Safety Foundation with a pregame ceremony and postgame custom jersey auction.

The Slammers are excited to host a Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer appearance June 18. Details will be released in the coming weeks.

Fans can take advantage of weekday promotions such as Two Dollar Tuesdays with tickets starting at $2, Fireworks Fridays and Family Sundays, when fans can line up post-game for team autographs. Thirsty Thursdays are back and now have a country theme, with drink specials, line dancing and the chance to win tickets to country festivals.
