Melissa DeLaRosa named York High School assistant principal

DeLaRosa currently works at Hinsdale Township High School District 86

ELMHURST – The District 205 Board of Education approved the appointment of Melissa DeLaRosa as assistant principal at York High School during its April 12 meeting.

DeLaRosa will be replacing Assistant Principal for Student Services Karla Goldman as of July 1. Goldman requested to return to the York Counseling Department for the 2016-17 academic year, according to a District 205 news release.

Goldman's is set to start her new position at York at the same time as new York High School Principal Erin DeLuga.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Melissa DeLaRosa to our York community," DeLuga said in the news release. "Ms. DeLaRosa comes to us from Hinsdale South High School and the Hinsdale High School District 86 Transition Center.

"In her current role, she serves as a school psychologist with a multitude of leadership experiences, including leading PBIS, advising the RTI process and leading multidisciplinary teams with both special education and student services. Melissa possesses an extensive background in developing IEP plans and evaluation-based 504 plans based on data."

Prior to her role in District 86, DeLaRosa served as a school psychologist at Woodlawn Middle School in Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96. Before entering the world of education, DeLaRosa worked as an associate portfolio officer for two years at Merrill Lynch.
