Yorkville Judo Club takes six medals in tournament

The Yorkville Judo Club entered seven players in the Wolf Junior Judo Tournament last Sunday and won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Winning gold were Ian Killsgaard (9-10 boys advanced), Nate Perez (11-12 boys advanced) and Ryan Lambert (11-12 boys novice). Silver medal went to Adam Eckardt (13-14 boys advanced) and bronze went to Ian Killsgaard (11-12 boys advanced) second division and Ethan Eckardt (9-10 boys advanced).

Entering competition for the first time were Nola Tellone (9-10 girls novice) and Sam Sleezer (7-8 boys novice). Both took fourth place. Coaching the team were Rick Undesser and Mike Williams. Referring for the tournament was Ricky Undesser, who was one of the youngest referees at age 14. Winning the prestigious Tom Watanabe best technique traveling trophy was Adam Eckardt.

The Yorkville Judo Club will travel to Oak Lawn on June 11th for the Tohkan Invitational tournament, which is one of the premier tournaments in the United States.
