Elmhurst unveils Explore Elmhurst Trolley, summer sweepstakes contest

ELMHURST – The Explore Elmhurst Express Trolley is back.

The maiden voyage of the free trolley that connects downtown Elmhurst with the Spring Road and the York and Vallette business districts took place June 3.

The trolley will operate from 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, noon to 11:30 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 18.

Riders can enter to win prizes by obtaining Explore Elmhurst ticket booklets located on the trolley and at select locations throughout town and dropping them off at participating locations. One bundled package of prizes will be donated by Elmhurst businesses and organizations each week.

The Explore Elmhurst Express is handicapped accessible and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Strollers that collapse or fit into the seating area of the trolley are welcome aboard. It is against fire code to place strollers or bikes in the aisle of the trolley.

An added bonus to the trolley experience is a narrative in which riders learn about highlighted areas of the city.

Elmhurst Public Library will have its Storytime event on the trolley at 2:30 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 17.
