Brandon A. LaFavre

MARQUETTE, Michigan – Brandon Allen LaFavre, 21, of Marquette, was taken from us suddenly Friday, June 24, 2016, at his home.

Brandon was born April 10, 1995, in Sterling, to Teresa Shuman Kobs and Larry LaFavre. Brandon graduated in 2013 from Gwinn High School, and completed basic training with the Army the summer of that year in Fort Leonard Wood. He was stationed in Marquette, Michigan, with the 652nd EN Bridge Co. As of April 2016, Brandon was employed as a vendor for Pepsi.

Brandon was passionate about music, fiercely loyal to his family and friends, and always was the funniest person in the room. He bought his first guitar in junior high, and taught himself, chord by chord, how to play until he was skilled enough to make music of his own. Brandon was brave, dependable, and a constant source of warmth and positive energy in the lives of those who knew and loved him. This senseless tragedy has robbed the world of a young man filled with promise, hope, and dreams, but we are all better people to have known him.

Brandon is survived by his parents, Teresa Kobs and Larry LaFavre; stepfather, Scott Kobs; maternal grandparents, Judy and Roger Scuffham; paternal grandparents, Karen VanHorn and Morrie LaFavre; sisters, Jessa (Donovan Luchini) and Amber LaFavre; nieces, Aeva and Ivy Luchini; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Falls American Legion. Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home in Marquette is handling arrangements.
