Meredith A. Renkes

MORRISON – Meredith A. Renkes, 86, of Morrison, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Meredith was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Morrison, the daughter of Ralph and Sara (Rogers) Domdey. She married Warren R. Renkes on Nov. 7, 1947, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1998. Meredith was a 1947 graduate of Morrison High School. She was employed at General Electric Co., and later, owned and operated Renkes Paint Store in Morrison with her husband before retiring. Meredith was an active member of Morrison United Methodist Church for many years, organizing and cooking many meals for various church functions. She also attended Lyndon United Methodist Church with family, and contributed in many ways to the church. Meredith enjoyed cooking, decorating, and embroidery, and shared her many creations with others. Her faith and family were important to her. She especially enjoyed picking out gifts that would be meaningful to each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Rhonda (Dick) Tracy of Dubuque, Iowa; a son, Rolland (Janet) Renkes of Morrison; one daughter-in-law, Sally Renkes of Prophetstown; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Hall of Mesa, Arizona, and Audrey Temple of Morrison; a brother, Donald (Barbara) Domdey of Morrison; one sister-in-law, Lois Domdey of Harden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Renkes and Richard Renkes; a grandson, Bryan Renkes in infancy, and a brother, Kenneth Domdey.

Following Meredith’s wishes, a graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, with the Rev. Andy Ploenzke officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established to United Methodist Church.
