SHOREWOOD – A ribbon-cutting and grand opening were held recently for the Shorewood Gas N Wash located at the southwest corner of Jefferson Street and River Road.
“This project services the western Shorewood area and the commuters that go north on the I-55 merger for work,” Mayor Richard Chapman said during the June 22 ribbon-cutting. “There was a lot of anxiety at first when the project was announced. Hopefully, the people who were apprehensive realize it was a benefit to the village of Shorewood and the surrounding communities.”
“Lenny’s Gas N Wash is one of the better looking gas station projects ever built in Will County or the surrounding counties,“ Chapman added.
Len McEnery, the founder and CEO, has a long and firmly-rooted background in the petroleum and convenience store industries. His 7,000-square-foot gas station and convenience store, with an Express Car Wash featuring a Pet Wash, is a modern-day, family-friendly service station.
Since the first location, McEnery has constructed and currently operates eight full-service, motor-vehicle facilities in Mokena, Joliet, New Lenox, Romeoville, Frankfort, Kankakee, Springfield, and now Shorewood.
Over the years, McEnery has seen the business develop from the days of only offering gasoline and a few automobile amenities, to providing a full-service, motor vehicle facility with convenience store offerings as well as name brand, food service options. The company’s mission is to be the one-stop shop for nearby customers, while maintaining a clean, family-friendly environment for all who stop in for a visit.
Among the offerings found at Gas N Wash are a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru, Pop’s Italian Beef and Sausage, Beggar’s Pizza, and roller grill options. Upon entering the store, the customer will encounter the Beer Cave, which provides an excellent selection of beer, wine and spirits. Lastly, propane exchanges and fills are available at all locations, while four locations offer live video gaming.
“Gas N Wash is proud to serve the Shorewood community. We have experienced an overwhelming positive response since the opening of our new station and are very pleased,” McEnery said.
