BATAVIA – It is a yearly tradition and one of the days circled on the calendar alongside the first game of the season and the first day of preseason practice.
It is the Jr. Bulldog camp run by the Batavia High School football program each summer. The 2016 camp is the 18th edition of the event and runs through July 15.
The one-week camp sees BHS players instruct hundreds of players from Batavia Youth Football as the youngsters participate in drills and other football-related activities.
For the young players it is a chance to interact with some of the players they will watch on Friday nights in the fall.
For the high school players it provides a change of pace from the usual summer practice routine as the Bulldogs build toward the high school season.
