STERLING – Ronald Justus Anderson, 87, of Sterling, died Monday, July 25, 2016, at his home after an illness.
He was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Helen Wilde and Axel Lundburge. Harold Anderson was his adopted father. He married Alberta Leah May on Sept. 29, 1951, in Los Angeles. She died July 25, 2006. In 1992, he and his wife moved to Sterling from Addison. Ronald served in the Navy during World War II. He worked for Butler Aviation at O’Hare Airport until he retired. After moving to Sterling, he worked part time for Cobane Air Freight in Rock Falls.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Anderson of Sterling and Christine (Walt) Hamilton of Dixon; son-in-law, Dean Schultz of Sterling; his sister, Gail Maschak; three grandchildren, Amber (James) Walker, Ashley (Nick) Hamilton, and Ronald (Jen) Schultz; and seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Sawyer, Baisey, and Tucker Walker, Sullivan Nielsen, and Jordan and Riley Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alberta Leah Anderson; his sister, Helen Beckman; and his brother, Harold “Duke” Anderson.
Services will be private. Cremation rites have been accorded. McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.
