The Oswego Bears went 5-1 in home openers this past week.
Tiny Mites vs. Joliet Steelers: Oswego Bears Tiny Mites improve their record to 2-0 after a win against the Joliet Steelers. The determined offensive line of Taylen Taitague, Christian Herrera, Gavin Kniffin, Aaron McDonald, Austin McIntosh and Benjamin Gibson allowed Aiden Cullen to find the end zone. Aiden Wiggins, Alex Wiggins, Ben Gibson and Ken Robertson held the line against a tough Steelers offense allowing only one touchdown.
Mitey Mite vs. Stickney Wolfpack: The Oswego Bears Mitey Mite Orange team improved to 2-0 on the season after a 39-0 win over the Stickney Wolfpack. The Bears opened the score with a 30-yard scramble by quarterback Brayden Swanson on the first offensive snap of the game. Brogan Mellow and Damien Lewandowski (two touchdowns each) and Dominic Battista (one touchdown) led the way. The defense was led by Brendan Bisgrove, Joslynn Sheets, and Jayden Kersh.
Mitey Mite vs. Rockford Titans: The Oswego Bears Mitey Mites Blue team continues to improve after a 20-0 loss to the Rockford Titans. In the second half the Bears came alive with great tackles by defensive ends Austin Martin and Sam Hard. Quarterback Drew Mulacek, running backs Caleb Yanos and Matthew Odefey, and lineman Gavin Watrous and Giovanni Villalpando led the offense.
Jr PeeWee vs. Stickney Wolfpack: Oswego Bears Junior Pee Wee team beat Stickney Wolf Pack 37-0 Saturday to improve to 2-0. The Bears offensive line of Trey Hernandez, Chris Dicosola, Zack Sempetrean, Tyler Knizner, Isaiah Logan, Hunter Smith, Aiden Moriarty, Zack Clarke and Andrew Wiggins highlighted the victory. Chase Gerwig had two interceptions in the first quarter. Tyler Bibbs ran 35 yards for the Bears first score and David Drendel added the extra point. Aiden Moriarty, Jackson Gillen (2 TDs) and Drendel all scored.
PeeWee vs. Stickney Wolfpack: The Oswego Bears Pee Wee team scored on their opening drive with quarterback Logan Stabb throwing to Darren Oregon to set the tone for a 21-14 win against the Stickney Wolfpack. The defense held strong with Ardi Qitaku, James Lemos Jr. and Christian Zukauskas leading the attack. Casey Krahula had 2 forced fumble recoveries.
Jr Varsity vs. Stickney Wolfpack: The Junior Varsity Bears team dominated both sides of the lines against a feisty Wolfpack team from Stickney, and won 26-0. The first offensive series was halted by a Lucas McCarty interception. Ty Carlson scored two touchdowns. The Bears defense was led by Lucas McCarty, Brandon Heffernan, Hector Perez, and Tyler Lastovich.
