LOCKPORT – On Sept. 24, more than 15 people from Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana brought their homegrown pumpkins to Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm in Lockport for the Monsters of the Midway Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off, and to honor all First Responders.

The $4,000 first place prize was awarded to Joe Adkins of Wheaton, whose pumpkin weighed 1,861 pounds.

Jeff Shenoah of Joliet, who won first place two years ago, came in second place. His pumpkin weighed 1,824 pounds.

Quinn Werner of Saegertown, Pennsylvania won third place with a pumpkin weighing 1,746. The Howard Dill Award for the prettiest pumpkin went to Scott Bayuk of Joliet, IL.

Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm is home to the moving 9/11 remembrance corn maze honoring all First Responders. Many of the giant pumpkins will stay at the farm so there is still time to see them through October.
