DIXON – Geraldine E. Cordell, 86, of Dixon, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Heritage Square in Dixon.
Geraldine was born March 20, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Charles A. and Estell (Powidzki) Antanitis. She married Henry L. Cordell on Aug. 6, 1949. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2012. Geraldine was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, and past member of the Dixon Woman’s Garden Club. She also was a volunteer for Loaves and Fishes through St. Patrick, Meals on Wheels, PADS Homeless Shelter, and the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Anne) Cordell of Dixon and Paul (Janice) Cordell of The Colony, Texas; five daughters, Mary (Dwight) Burgess of Harmon, Diane (Lou) Wolfe of Dixon, Judy (Dr. Greg) Grubb of Dixon, Barbara (Dennis) Willems of Colombia, Missouri, and Ann (George) Yundt of Andover, Massachusetts; one brother, Carl Antanitis of Aberdeen, South Dakota; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Charlene Drane.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of cremains will beat a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
