Mark E. Clevenger

NOKOMIS – Mark E. Clevenger, 57, of Nokomis, formerly of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, in Nokomis.

Born April 20, 1959, in Sterling, he was the son of James E. Clevenger, Thomas L. Hicks, and Joanne M. (Downey) Hicks. Mark worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for nearly 25 years as a millwright.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Brooke (Sonny Batha) Clevenger of Rock Falls; a son, Travis (Nikesha Atkinson) Clevenger of Newport, Minnesota; three brothers, Mike (Laura) Clevenger, Jeff Hicks, and Teddy (Donna) Hicks, all of Rock Falls; two sisters, Toni Hicks of La Vergne, Tennessee, and Peggy (Kevin) Potter of Monticello, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Jaxxon and Axel Clevenger of Newport, Minnesota.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, and the memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling, with Dalmus Meeks, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to one of the following organizations in honor of Mark – NAMI, National Alliance of Mental Illness (nami.org), in support of others who fight the battle against these illnesses; Montmorency School Outdoor Education Program, in honor of Mark’s love for the great outdoors; and HoundSong Rescue (houndsong.com), in honor of Mark’s lifelong passion for hunting and his beloved hounds.
