Saad leads Cards past Polo

Jenna Saad's six 3-pointers and 20 points helped Erie cruise past Polo 72-31 on Tuesday in the
Morrison Tournament.

Whitney Bramm scored 21 points and dished out six assists, and
Taylor Steimle had eight rebounds for the Cardinals. Maddy Newton had five.

Justine Gorzny led the Marcos with 15 points, hitting 7 of 11 from the free-throw line.

Morrison 64, West Carroll 22: A 28-point first quarter helped get the Fillies out of the starting gate quickly at the Morrison Tournament, and they never looked back.

Jaeden Workman scored 16 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Kassidee Church added 13 points, and Emma Sitzmore scored 10.

Emma Aljets led the Thunder with six points.

AFC 52, Aquin 27: Jaynee Prestegaard had 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots as the Raiders won for the second time in as many nights.

AFC jumped out to a 28-12 lead by halftime, with Prestegaard scoring 13 points in the first 16 minutes.

Madeline Prestegaard scored 11 in the game. Emily Shrimplin added seven assists, and Bryce Gittleson swiped eight steals.

Boys bowling

Geneseo 3,320, Dixon 2,855: Jarod White had games of 205, 237 and 176 for a 618 series for the Dukes in a road loss to the Maple Leafs.

Geneseo’s Kyler Rusk led all bowlers with games of 257, 193 and 237 for a 687 series.

Women’s basketball

Madison Tech 97, Sauk Valley 92: SVCC hit 11 of 21 from 3-point range (52.4 percent), but it was not enough in the loss to the Wolfpack.

The Skyhawks trailed 53-45 at halftime, and fell behind by as many as 14 in the third quarter before
cutting into the lead. SVCC outscored Madison Tech 23-17 in the fourth quarter.

Jaida Carson led Sauk Valley with 26 points, hitting 9 of 15 from the field, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range. Kennedy Kuykendall added 25 points, and Dabriona Williams scored 21.

Rachel Slaney scored 39 to lead Madison Tech.

Men’s basketball

Madison Tech 103, Sauk Valley 101: The Skyhawks fell to Madison Tech despite hitting 14 3-pointers.

Sean Chislom led Sauk Valley (2-4) with 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Karson Arrenholz droped in five 3s and scored 24 points, while Garrett Duffin (14) and Laron Carr (11) also reached double figures.
